I love your site. I am looking for a word in german that means he who walks alone or something like that. Does that ring a bell? Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Gabrielle. Thanks for the compliment! I think you are looking for the word “Einzelgänger”. The literal translation would be he who walks alone. We use it in the sense of lone wolf or loner.

Hi, just recently stumbled over your interesting site!
Here are two great words/expressions that would be interesting to explore – inner Schweinhund, and Frühlingsmüdigkeit!..

Yes! Frühlingsmüdigkeit! I get it, and someone said argued with me it’s not possible. Americans dont understand it. Do you think it’s related to Daylight Saving Time change?

    Hello to you Elle,

So happy to have stumbled upon your site after looking for what the web had to say about ‘Geborgenheit’. My first encounter with that word was with a former love from Germany, and through her I learnt a number of words usually off-limits to those without an active interest in the language. Another such word that may interest you: gegenstandpunkt.

    Cheers,
    Tor

P.s. please could you tell me who Soma is? Often I write for my friend Hanna, who was a lover of words, too, and who left the world last October.
